CLIENT: Anonymous Client from Minneapolis, MN
SCOPE: A couple from the cities wanted a secluded micro home retreat in the North Shore area that was 300 square feet or less. I researched the location and took into account their needs for the space - the ability to relax and recharge in nature, both by themselves and while hosting guests, with the amenities of home. They needed storage space and a functional kitchen and bath, while being connected to the outdoors. I drew inspiration from the surroundings including the lakefront property and the night sky. We created a rear deck that overlooked the lake with operable glass doors that opened the space for entertaining, a fire pit and a spa. We installed a custom skylight above the custom built king bed to view the Northern Lights and utilized color and texture inspiration from the location as well. The exterior materials were selected to protect the home from the harsh winter elements including enhanced insulation and protection from the lake environment.
